Title :Adsorption Behavior of Waste Paper Gels Chemically Modified with Functional Groups of Primary Amine and Ethylenediamine for Some Metal Ions

Abstract :New adsorption gels were prepd. by chem. immobilizing functional groups of primary amine and ethylenediamine on waste newspaper to investigate their adsorption behaviors for various metal ions from water at varying pH and from varying concn. of hydrochloric acid soln. They exhibited very high selectivity to precious metals such as gold, platinum, and palladium over base metals in the adsorption from hydrochloric acid soln. and the selectivity was higher than com. available anion exchange resin. The max. adsorption capacities for palladium and platinum were found to be greater than 1 mol/kg-dry gel.
